Recruitment agency

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Finding a job is never easy, especially if you are looking to go abroad. Sure, you can search for vacancies on the internet, job recruitment websites, or maybe you have friends there who can help you to look around. But most of the time this is not enough. You would probably have to travel there and look on your own which will be a waste of time and money. For me the best option is to apply through a recruitment agency, and here is why:

  1. What does a recruitment agency do?

A recruitment agency acts like an intermediary between a company or a school that is looking to hire someone and, an unemployed guy or a teacher who is looking for a job.

The recruitment process involves sourcing, interviewing, reference checking, matching candidates with the companies or schools. After finding a suitable candidate, the agency will arrange an interview between the company or school and the candidate.

  1. Why should I use a recruitment agency?

Recruitment agencies mostly charge the companies or the schools. So as a job seeker, you won’t have to pay anything to the agency.

Contacting a recruitment agency can only help you. Recruitment agencies have strong knowledge about all the industries, such as Marketing, IT, Teaching, etc. They are also well-connected, which means they can send your CV to more than one company or school. This will save you a lot of time. Sometimes even the recruitment agencies have access to some vacancies that you won’t be able to find by yourself.

Also, they can help you to boost your application and prepare you for your interviews.

But remember, you can’t rely solely on the recruitment agency. These should be only part of your search. You should search by yourself and apply directly to jobs you find through internet or through friends and contacts.

  1. How to make them work harder for me?

It’s important to be prepared. Recruitment agencies are not career advisers, so don’t expect them to tell you what kind of job is good for you. You have to know clearly what kind of position you want before even contacting the agency.

The time will come when they will ask you about your salary expectation. It’s important to be open-minded and flexible about this. But at the same time you should be straight forward about the things you are not willing to compromise. This way the agency will know exactly what to look for.

  1. Can I join more than one recruitment agency?

Of course. More agencies, more opportunities. But you need to be sure that you won’t have two agencies giving your CV to the same company or school. This will make you look like you’re desperate to find a job.

The best way to avoid this from happening is to choose agencies that cover different geographical areas.
